| At the Park Slope location I love that the bathroom tiles go all the way up. I wonder if the tummy of a snake looks like this if you had a kerosine lamp? |
I started this drawing in pencil and began to stipple in ink with Stabilo's 30 colorful, Point 88 pens. I did finish this at another cafe that I'll mention Thursday. There is something so fun about not getting proportions right and just creating a drawing without any expectations. Drawing and coloring just for the fun of it.
I was inspired by Pink Floyd's song, Time. The dog was a misheard lyric that I didn't realize until I was finished drawing. Apparently, they said, "Dull Day," not Dog Day. Which makes more sense since if I see a dog on the sidewalk or cafe I immediately light up with excitement of the opportunity of saying hi to an adorable creature.

| Variety Coffee's Greenpoint location |
When I was younger, one of my favorite things about NYC was its reputation as the city that never sleeps. The abundance of cafes, restaurants, and bars open late into the night provided endless opportunities for socializing or solitary pursuits. Whether I wanted to enjoy a drink with friends or simply unwind with a book, journal, or sketchbook, there was always a cozy spot to retreat to. However, times have changed, and many cafes and coffee shops now close early, mirroring the suburban lifestyle. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Variety Coffee Roasters, a rare gem that remains open until 9pm. As someone who no longer frequents bars, having a place to unwind after work and focus on myself before heading home to prepare for the next day is a true pleasure.
Another blessing Variety Coffee Roasters offers is not just the affordable coffee and free WiFi, but the alternative milk, non-dairy milk options that do not have a surcharge. The oat milk sits in a container with all the other milk options at the table where you can access sugar, honey, napkins and lids for your cups.
