Pie Corps

The photo above is from a moment in May 2022, as I sat at one of their outdoor tables, enjoying my favorite refreshing Basil Strawberry drink, (basil leaves, strawberry puree and seltzer). With my sketchbook in hand, the drawing is adorned with metallic pens, black ink pens, white charcoal, and a graphite pencil. The table beneath me swayed gently, its unsteady footing on the ground adding a touch of whimsical frustration to my artistic endeavor.

In the spontaneity of that moment, I embarked on a creative journey with no predetermined subject in mind. The resulting artwork unfolded organically, capturing a delightful gold splatter on the subject's head. This goofy detail triggered fond memories of the Nickelodeon show, "You Can't Do That on Television," adding an unexpected and nostalgic layer to my artistic musings.

I've been a devoted fan of Pie Corps for the past six years, ever since stumbling upon this gem. Casting my memory back, I recall a charming nook by the window where patrons could savor their coffee, relish a slice of pie, and engage in a friendly game of Connect Four. A lot of things changed after the pandemic of 2020, but Pie Corps continues to provide excellent food and drinks.

While Pie Corps is renowned for its delicious pies, there are some hidden treasures on the menu that deserve more attention. During the summer, I can't resist the Basil Strawberry drink - it's a burst of refreshing flavors. Think of the Bridesmaid's scene where Annie said, "Shit, that is fresh."

When the weather turns chilly, my go-to choices are the Nutella Bread Pudding and the Chicken Pot Pie Handpie, both of which never disappoint. And let's not forget about their stellar coffee options; the Honey Lavender Latte, especially when crafted by a certain barista, holds a special place in my heart.

Despite its diminutive size, the allure of Pie Corps extends beyond its walls. With limited outdoor seating sans shelter, patrons brave all kinds of weather to relish the experience. I've found myself standing in line during snowstorms, only to discover kindred spirits who share my dedication to this charming spot. The weather may not always be on our side, but the warmth of Pie Corps' offerings and community spirit make every visit worthwhile!
